1,2,3, ATC!

Yeah!! I finished my ATC that will be a make-n-take at the upcoming My Daughter's Wish Open House on May 1 from 6:30 to 9:00.  Here it is in its Spring Splendor!

Img_7926

Yes, I am embracing the Spring colors!!  The Open House is a FAB event where all the Wish Chicks (the My Daughter's Wish Design Team) design an ATC and do it as a make-n-take.  Let me tell you that the Wish Chicks are a SUPER talented group, including myself! LOL!!  Casey is the mixed media queen, always has something creative and fabulous.  Lisa is a collage diva and is constantly doing new things.  Rebecca has a fresh, fun style that I adore.  Lydia was just chosen as the Scrap in Style TV Blog SISter of the week!  Nancie is a wonder with patterned paper and fun colors.  And we all know Daniela, our DT Coordinator, is just the BOMB!  You know if you come to this event, you are leaving with some fab artwork!

My Daughter's Wish is also sponsoring an Artistic Faire for National Scrapbook Day weekend, full of crops, events and good times!!  Call the store or go on line to the Artistic Faire link to sign up!  I will be there in full force, wearing my party shoes!! LOL!

Hopefully by this Friday, I will post a Summer project I will be teaching at MDW.  Be on the lookout!!  And I hope to be getting my scrapping on this weekend!  Yippee!!

Later!

Parlez Vous French?

So,  yesterday I made a layout in French.  Do I speak French?  No.  Have I ever spoken French (with the exception of a horrible French accent)?  No.  I have no idea why I decided to do a layout in FRENCH!!  Too funny!!  The wonders of the internet and Babelfish!!  LOL!!  My friend Christine got married last weekend and the layout was a pic of her from her bridal shower.  She is truly a wonderful person, I was going for a shabby, vintage-y, Paris Flea market-y kind of thing and ended up doing my layout in French.  If you can't beat them or go with them to the flea market, join them! LOL!!  I absolutely love the way it came out.  If anyone has issues with my translation, please let me know.  I really don't know if they make any sense, I just typed it into Babelfish and it translated for me!

Adieu!!

Be True to your Fool!!!

Happy April Fool's Day!!!  Today is my friend A's birthday!!!  When her mom told me she had her baby and it was born on April 1, I thought it was a practical joke. It was not!  :)  Happy Birthday, A!!!!!

I haven't updated lately, shame on me!  I've been pretty crazy with work and so many other things.  One of my dear friends is getting married so it's been a bunch of wedding stuff with her.  My hubby and I just bought our house and my mom is coming up to move her stuff out, so that's been busy.  Oh, and WORK!!  Work has been pretty crazy, tons of stuff going on.  And of course, everything happens at the same time!  I will have absolutely  NOTHING to do in May!! LOL!

Here are a few things I was able to finish in the last few weeks:

Off_kilter This was for a sketch challenge.  I do not do sketches normally, I am HORRIBLE at them!  This one turned out okay, still not super happy with it.  But I like the colors and I got to use my hula penguin stamp and my pig stamp! Yippeee!!!!

Hanging_out I love the way this one came out!!  And I love all that fun Creative Cafe paper! Granted, it came out a while ago but it is jus so darned pretty!!  And I also love this picture...I've scrapped it at least 3 times!  LOL!!

Finding_my_smile I attempted to do the One Little Word Challenge..the word was "FIND".  So I did the LO, but never uploaded it, until now.  They've sinced moved onto "Blessed", another great word.  I am happy with this one because I got to use all my fun, bright colors and some old favorites paper!  Everyone knows I am gaga for Orange, Pink and Green!

So, a little post, a little scrapbooking....and i will leave you with a final photo.  All Vegetarians/PETA folks probably do not want to see the next pic, I'm serious!

Have you EVER?

Created a layout or project that you ABSOLUTELY LOVED the way it came out!!  I did that today.  I was doing the happy dance around my scrap area!!  Soo loved doing this layout.  Love it!

Img_7593_edited It says" My Hubby says he can read me like an Open Book!"  I took a challenge at ScrapinStyleTV to use a book cover on a project or layout or whatever.  I had an extra book that I was going to alter so I used its cover.  I cut a hole in it and covered the hole with an old school Lil Davis book collage transparency.  The background is the Love, Elsie embossed white "Brainstorm" paper from her Zoe line.  I painted 9 squares different colors and wiped off the paint with a baby wipe.  This is a trick I leared in Emily Falconbridge's BPS class!  It has a glaze-y effect and was perfect for what I had in mind for the page.  I used a bunch of buttons as a border and when you pull back the cover, I have some hidden journaling bits about me and some Prima flowers.  Can I just tell you how much I Love this LO!!!

Spoonful of .....Splenda?

My_life_2

Some Fun LO's from this weekend!!  I did some of the challenges at Scrap In Style TV.  Every CHA, there are challenges for everyone who didn't get to attend the event.  Tons of fun!!  I only did a few this year, had a lot of errand running and other stuff going on! :)Sweet_as_2  This LO was for the AMEX Challenge...those ads you see in magazines!

This one "Sweet as Splenda?" was for the Trash Digger challenge, using something from the trash.  My hubby was HORRIFIED by that idea so I had to use new Splenda packets!

Sis_atc_chall This is an ATC I made for a challenge....came out funky and fun!

This last LO, "HOme is Where the Heart Is" was a label challenge.  I used a label from Hawaii candy to remind me of home.  So much fun!!!Home_is_where Thanks for looking everyone!

And BTW, Lydia, I am still doing your challenge...have the letter written, need to do the LO!!

Round and Round

My week was CRAZY!!  Workwise, it was super productive, for which I am happy.  I really felt in the groove at work.  Got a lot done, even though I have a bit of work to do this weekend.  We had an incredible speaker at the sales meeting I attended, his name was Marlon Shirley, an Olympic track and field athlete.  He was truly inspirational and really spoke to me.  Listening to him strengthened my resolve to seriously attack this weight loss thing.  He is one of the fastest people in the WORLD.  Very incredible.   So, thanks to Marlon for his inspiration, even though he might not know it!  Here is Marlon's website, Marlon Shirley.

On the personal side, My Daughter's Wish, my local scrapbook store, had a HUGE Open House where everyone was invited to come for food and to do ATC cards with the Wish Chicks, the design team.  I might have posted this before, I am one of the Wish Chicks!  Yeah!!  We all made ATC's then did them as make and takes.  We were PACKED with people, every 20 minutes we got another group.  I had sooo much fun!!  It was great to meet all the customers and for them to see us and our work.  Sheri, the owner, did a fab job putting on the evening.  I KNOW everyone had a FABULOUS time.  I hope we do it again!  This was my card...I know, I know, not my usual brights.  I didn't go to the Design Team meeting because of the flu, so I got a leftover baggie of stuff!  I loved it though, I rocked the muted colors!! (Julie L-B, if you read this, aren't you proud of me for rocking the muteds? LOL!)

Today is Saturday!! I had a really productive workweek so I am feeling good today!! I do have a bit of work to finish this weekend but that's no biggie!!  I got a bit of sleep and then I got to SCRAP!!!  I needed some creative time!  I wanted to make a mini book of a girls trip, but a STAR I had gotten from the Cocoa Daisy kit last year was calling out to me!  I altered it with some Scenic Route and Love, Elsie papers along with some Bazzil, Imaginisce, and Lil Davis Flowers and topped it off with some Heidi Swapp Bling!  I love the way it came out, very understated and awesome!  I am giving this away as a gift to one of my dear friends.  I might be tempted to keep it for myself though!  LOL!!  You probably want to see a pic, right?

I am off to do a bit of work before doing more SCRAPPING!!  Sooo excited!!

Let Him Fly

Here are the pics of the mini album I made of the big graduation photos!  I got this Maya Road Bird Mini Album in a kit and we all know how I feel about birds! LOL!!  It ended up being the perfect inspiration for this project.  Let me know what you think!

Img_7453 Img_7445 Img_7427 Img_7424 Img_7446 These are some of my fave pages.  I really wanted this book to be very lumpy/bumpy and textured.  I am happy with the way it came out!

First Blog Post of 2008!

Yes, Virginia!  I am still alive!!  I haven't blogged in forever!!  Let's see what's happened:

  • Had Thanksgiving in Southern California, had a great time!
  • Visited my mom in AV, it was fabulous to hang out with her!
  • My birthday in December was AWESOME!  Ross took me to see Wicked in LA.  I cannot even begin to describe how utterly fabulous it was.  If you get a chance, you MUST see it.  My new song right now is "Defying Gravity".
  • Unfortunately, while we were away, I ended up getting the flu!  I woke up on Saturday morning feeling like crap and with a 101 degree fever!!  We were celebrating Christmas with Ross's family and I ended up being feverish and out of it for most of the day.  Not too much fun.  Ross dropped me off at the hotel . I ended up being out of work for 3 more days, which was also not fun.
  • My mom came home for the holidays.  We had a great time with her.  I miss hanging out with her more often.
  • We had a wonderful Christmas.  Ross got Guitar Hero and now we are addicted!
  • I was on vacation for the week of Christmas.  I had a work meeting on January 2 then was on vacation for the rest of the week.  I played Guitar Hero on Thursday morning and scrapped in the afternoon.  By 5pm on Thursday, I was in bed with the flu!
  • Today, I am getting tons better.  I missed a meeting of the My Daughters Wish Design team, total bummer.  I am not sure if I am going to my church thing tomorrow.  I don't want to have a relapse.  I have way too much going on at work next week.

So, that's what's going on with me!  LOL!!  I worked on a special project during my vacation.  I will post pics later on this weekend.  Have a great day!
